EMK Center

Created in 2012, the EMK Center is a non-partisan platform committed to open dialogue, informed action, individual and artistic expression, and personal & professional development. The Center is co-managed by the American Center of the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka & University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB).

The EMK Center honors the legacy of public servants worldwide, exemplified by U.S. Senator Edward M. Kennedy, who was moved to take action during the Liberation War of 1971, and throughout his life in support of his convictions. In February 1972, Senator Kennedy planted a banyan tree on the premises of the University of Dhaka. Today, it continues to stand tall as a living tribute to friendship, resilience, and hope.

The mission of the EMK Center is to engage, inspire, connect and empower citizens of all ages, races and socioeconomic backgrounds to better themselves, their communities and the world through our 5 core pillars: Inclusive Entrepreneurship, Promotion of Arts and Culture, Advancing STEM through MakerLab, EducationUSA and Youth Employability.

The Edward M. Kennedy Center for Public Service and the Arts recognizes the potential of a person and provides a platform to showcase their aptitude.

07 Feb 2023 – 28 Feb 2023

The exhibition going on! EMK Center is delighted to invite you to visit the solo exhibition of artist Nur Munjerin Rimjhim. About the exhibition: Artist Nur began exploring perspective and buildings during her Bachelor of Fine Arts studies and felt a strong connection to these subjects. This inspired her to focus on the architectural wonders of Bangladesh. Her series of pen sketches of Dhaka University and the Faculty of Fine Arts sparked an interest in heritage sites. Growing up in the historic city of Rajshahi, with its many ancient mosques and temples, she has always been drawn to heritage sites. In the future, she hopes to not only continue exploring the heritage of her hometown but also to delve into the rich history of heritage sites around the world.
