The Double Slit Experiment "on faces" by Bilge Ugursu

    08 Apr 2021 – 08 Jul 2021

Berlin-based surreal & abstract artist. Describes her style as figurative abstract expressionist and uses mostly mixed media in all her artworks. Developed her own concept, where she combines her classical paintings with digital art to create a smooth synthesis without any rules and conceptualizations. Therefore, her artworks are quite experimental with a contemporary spirit. You can see both brush strokes and digital pixels in her artworks and experience the unique perception of looking at a canvas and computer screen at the same time. She aims to give reviewers sort of a unique feeling even for a second instead of presenting raw aesthetics in her works. Uses lots of psychological and scientific metaphors as she has always been amazed by the intersection of art and science. Her creative artworks have been presented in many exhibitions including established international galleries. She will be featured on upcoming issue of the Flux Review art magazine.

Parrhesia/Free Speech by Pinar Ture Gursoy

    04 May 2021 – 04 Jul 2021

Born in Istanbul, Pinar Ture Gursoy completed her higher education in Urban and Regional Planning in Yildiz Technical University. She then got married and became mother of two daughters. Since 1998, she worked intensively at studios of numerous distinguished Turkish artists such as Prof Tayfun Erdoğmuş, Hülya Düzenli, Mahir Güven, Orhan Taylan, Seçil Büyükkan Atmaca and Izzet Keribar etc in Istanbul. During these experiences, she worked on painting, etching and photography and studied different methods that she then internalized in her art. During the period between 2010 and 2014, she got back to university and graduated from BA in Philosophy from Anadolu University, with distinction. While studying philosophy, she was also living on and off in Paris, where she immersed herself in museums while occasionally participating to workshops at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris. Afterwards she graduated from MSc in Museum Management from “Istanbul University”. During 2015-2018, she lived in London, where she also explored the vibrant contemporary art scene via frequenting museums, such as Tate Modern, Barbican Center, Serpentine Art Gallery, among many others… She has been exhibiting in various Turkish cities and also abroad in Tokyo, Lucern, Deventer, Venice, Titan, Napoli, Marakkesh, Thessaloniki, London etc... She continues working at her own studio/home in Istanbul. Throughout my own career, particularly initially I developed a passion for the Atelier Movement, at various established artist studios in Istanbul. Embracing my foundation in traditional techniques, I attended workshops at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris. I aim to maintain my unique visual language mixing autobiographical material with inspirations from Greek & Ottoman iconography. My sources vary from childhood memories, sketches and the other objects that I came across at major museums.

‘My Palimpsests’ by Olga Goldina Hirsch

Olga is a British artist.  She left her native city of Moscow in 2011, imbued with the cultural memory that inevitably shapes the Russian psyche and forms the basis of a certain emptiness and hopelessness common to all. Olga decided ‘to rewrite the draft of her life’ and in 2018 she got a Master degree in Fine Art (City & Guilds of London Art School).  Her early works are full of ‘shadows from the past’ and filled with textures. On her paintings she is by the window, to which she returns again and again, until she decides ‘to escape’ and opens it to meet other worlds. Her language becomes more metaphorical, and more restrictive.  Through layers of whitewash over primed by black gesso ‘her palimpsests’ viewers may immerse themselves with fragments of drawings reminiscent of her past. In her present works there are no restrictions. She found quite magically that as her brush touches the canvas, her thoughts and feelings begin to take form. Olga has recently presented at established international galleries, and become a member of International Association of Visual Art, Florence, Italy. Her works are in private collections, including the Copelouzos Family Art Museum, Athens, Greece, published in art magazines and in numerous of exhibitions, of late, all virtual. Her painting has been chosen for presentation by Le Salon des Artistes Français, Paris, France.

    'ANTHROPOSYNTHETIC' by Burak Kutlay

    20 Jan 2021 – 23 Apr 2021

Human beings who has the power to change the earth geomorphologically have entered the Anthropocene age which is expected to be accepted by the international commission on stratigraphy. I point out and question the existence of individuals living in this system, where human beings were born and grew up in cities they created. I create works that reflect the multi-layered interaction of human bodies and portraits with city images by using natural material wood, synthetically produced epoxy and acrylic paint. “Today's artists not only seek to create new discourses in different contexts, but also use different materials to deepen and layer the subject. Burak Kutlay, an artist who replicates what he wants to say in this diversity axis with different references. It reproduces and deepens the image by overlapping various architectural drawings by using epoxy on the portraits made with acrylic on wood. Therefore, the new 'landscape' that we watch in Kutlay's paintings, in a sense, is about the environment and architecture created by today's individual while on the other hand… In Kutlay's paintings, he does not distinguish between the city views and the architecture that surround the individual and himself. by pointing to the opposite, it truly points to the multi-layeredness of the human-environment relationship. Neither takes the portrait alone and glorifies it nor leaves the architecture breathless by isolating it from the individual. The fact that the paintings contain many architectural drawings and collages deepens this intimacy; the individual urges to rethink the environmental relationship.” - Esra Aliçavuşoğlu, 2018

'A Sense of Awe' by Patricia RAIN Gianneschi

    07 Jan 2021 – 07 Apr 2021

My work brings the viewer into a space where they become open to the forces of Imagination and Spirit. Art can transform us, can awaken in us a new awareness, create new sensations, and even new revelations, through Color and Form. I practice painting as an act of spiritual practice, entering with body and mind, searching for images wandering through the canvas.
