Working with Gimp shareware
Gimp is available for free download.
Check their help pages for more details on working with text.
They have a (simpler) text tool as well, and their export of files with transparency works similarly to the other ones, with a quick export as png.
You can also remove the background from text or logo in an existing file with Gimp:
- Select the icon “Select by Color” from the panel on the left-hand side.
- Select the part of the image you want to make transparent / wish to delete.
- In the Layer window that displays your image, select Layer – Transparency – Add Alpha Channel.
- Go to “Edit,” then select “Clear.”
- the cleared area or background is now appear transparent
- save the file.
