Currently, the Department Chair & Professor of Art + Design, Madelon Powers Gallery Director and 3D Printing Stratasys Super Lab Director at East Stroudsburg University, Darlene Farris-LaBar, has an MFA in Sculpture from SUNY, Purchase College, a BFA in Sculpture from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and an AAS in Digital Media Arts from College of Technology of NYC. She oversees the 3D Printing Program and the G3D 3D Printing lab located in the Art + Design Department.

As an artist, she uses 3D printing and other emerging technologies to focus her art on a variety of plant species. As one of the top 30 most influential women in 3D printing, she has been represented by Women in 3D, The Additivist Cookbook, Whitney Museum, New York Hall of Science, Athens Onassis Cultural Center, 3D Pioneer, 3D PrintShow and had her work exhibited around the world. This last year she presented her work at the Assam State Art Museum and this summer she presented a 3D printed representation of rain in Atmospheric Chords, in Vancouver, Canada, as part of Waterlines: Confluence and Hope through Environmental Communication. She also presented in “Tomorrows” at Les Uniques in Nantes, France. Farris-LaBar presented “Ancient Mediterranean Flowers” that are on the red-list of endangered species in EcoVisionaries at Mataderno Madrid, Spain. Also, she was recently honored by Stratasys, a business leader in 3D technology, for her work with students at ESU and her professional work with 3D printing. She was awarded the Stratasys eCab Award for Most Innovative in Additive Manufacturing. Since the onset of COVID, Farris-LaBar has volunteered and dedicated her time towards creating and collaborating in the design process of PPE.

    2021 ESU Student Art+Design Exhibition

    Welcome to the ESU 2021 Student Art+Design Exhibition hosted by the Student Art Association! The Madelon Powers Gallery of East Stroudsburg University is proud to host the 2021 Student Art+Design Exhibition beginning April 14th, 2021. Entries exhibited include a wide range of categories, including 2D Design, 3D Design, Mixed Media, Graphic Design, and Product Design.

    The Inclusion Project

    The project, now in its third year, is a cross-disciplinary collaboration between students in Philosophy 340: Race, Gender and Culture (taught by Professor T Storm Heter) and students in Art 220: Graphic Design (taught by Professor David Mazure). The Inclusion Poster Project is co-sponsored by the Office of the Provost and the Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
