Katya Olive (Curated by Margo Grant and Neal Tolunsky)

Katya Olive is a bilingual New York immigrant, poet, model, NYC nightlife's #1 door-person these days and simply a dreamer. Her entire life she has been surrounded by art, music, and fashion, which have always been her passion and way of life. At the start of the pandemic she distinguished herself as an emerging, abstract textile artist based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Now her works have been seen in Garner Art Center (New York), Art Basel 2021 at ArtHood 56 Gallery (Miami), and in various private art collections. The title of this exhibition is “Raw.” It embodies the tension between a harsh, cut-throat world, on the one hand, and the tenderness and subtlety of small effects born of geometric figures, splashes of paint, pieces of string and nails—out of all this, harmony emerges organically. This is the beginning of a whole new chapter in Katya’s life, which she is ready to share with the world. Photographs taken by Bogdan Grytsiv.

Tegi Barsegian (Curated by Margo Grant and Neal Tolunsky)

Tegi was born and raised in Yerevan, Armenia. As a child, she loved the arts and ballet; her dream was to become a famous ballerina and travel the world (one can still feel the dance-like nature of her bubbling compositions). She graduated from the most prestigious art schools in Armenia: Hakob Kojoyan School of Art, Terlemezian College of Fine Arts and the Academy of Arts and Theater. These works represent a wide variety of styles, from lilting semi-abstraction overflowing with flora and fauna to a kind of playful, adventuresome brand of surrealism. In her masterful use of color, one is reminded of Kandinsky and Matisse, while her unique subject matter is sometimes reminiscent of De Chirico or Dalí. Here one enters the enchanting and mysterious world of Tegi Barsegian, who proves in her work to be a storyteller and magician as much as a painter.

Vladimir Gavin (Curated by Margo Grant and Neal Tolunsky)

An architect by profession, Vladimir Gavin was no doubt drawn to the spiritual power of space and geometry, which he explored in his paintings as well as his designs. His tempera paintings are superficially reminiscent of De Stijl and Constructivism (or even Japanese prints), though they have a soul of their own which is beyond classification. His compositions excel at conveying a mood, a philosophy of life, a metaphysical quality which endures in the viewer's mind.
