    KS4-5 Fine Art 20-21

    11 Jun 2021 – 11 Dec 2021

Due to the pandemic and intermittent lockdowns, our students experienced an extremely difficult academic year. However, they rose to the challenge and produced amazing work. There are several themes explored in this exhibition: Reflection, Chiaroscuro, Natural Form, Still Life, Vanitas, Fibonacci, Art Deco. There is a common thread though runs through and unifies all the Artwork which is creativity and resilience both of which our students have demonstrated are qualities that they all possess.

    Lockdown

    17 Nov 2020 – 17 Feb 2021

Responding to Lockdown, our students utilised whatever materials and media they had available to document a personal response to unprecedented times. Cold coffee, tea was used as a paint substitute, in one instance a ready-made image of a flower was produced by gluing coffee and pine nuts to paper. Some students took their inspiration from Artists they were familiar with from previous Art lessons, Matisse and Munch being particularly popular. Other students drew views from windows, a familiar object, or even something as mundane as a cup of tea assumed more importance. For many students, the online lessons were essential for them to feel a degree of security and routine whilst being in a new learning environment. Many felt a renewed appreciation for their school life and their teachers! "You don't know what you've got 'til it’s gone." - Joni Mitchell ________________________________________
