Steve Thornton Gallery
4 Square Miles
Photographic Exhibition & Book set. Titled: 4 Square Miles. A Most Diverse British Landscape. By Documentary photographer Steve Thornton.
Step inside a virtual 3D photographic exhibition, walk around and view over 30 landscape images of Donna Nook on Lincolnshire's panoramic coastline.
This new exhibition and book provide a narrative of images documenting Donna Nook’s unique diversity within its four square miles. A genuinely remarkable asset within the landscape of the British Isles. With Natural England & Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust guardianship, there are acreages of carbon-capturing salt marshes, a 2000-strong resident rare grey seal colony, wild flowering sand dunes, meadows and wetlands. Huge bird populations, WWII defences including a hospital, pill boxes & POW camps and an operational Ministry of Defence live firing target range. Steve Thornton is concerned about the multiple threats that weigh on our landscapes. He has dedicated the last three years to photographing the treasures of Donna Nook and hopes the photographs within these exhibition walls and in the books do not become a record of a lost landscape.
This 3 volume set is a prelude to a hardbound photographic book being published in 2024.
