    Alea Pinar du Pre

As an Austrian/Turkish Painter born in 1972 in Vienna Alea Pinar Du Pre has been influenced deeply by the artists of Künstlerhaus and Wiener Werkstaette. As a highly talented autodidact she started painting early on. With the age of six she had produced about 500 drawn paper dolls. With age 13 she painted her first oil colour figures and invented an oil colour printing technique. Between 1995 – 2005 she produced a series of cubistic oil paintings picturing street scenes of Istanbul. In 2008 she developed her current technique in which she mixes digital art with ‘the real world’. “Building on the synthetic intensity of digital art, my figurative style depicts a familiar but warped daily life.”

    MARIA PAOLA CODA

Maria Paola Coda was born in Italy, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, and since 2006 lives and works in Gerona (Spain). Coda’s work has since been shown in Gerona, New York, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Ourense and Florence. Her creative process dwells on a permanent search for the beauty hiding within our state of mind:“It’s that vibration that makes you cry when looking or listening to something without a rational reason. Beauty as a sublime concept is what interests me and what I am looking for.”

Villa del Arte - Yvonne Michiels

    01 Sep 2021 – 01 Oct 2021

In her art, Yvonne Michiels tells personal stories about beauty, emotions and mortality. She uses topical examples from modern society. Resulting in aesthetic, innovative portraits. Her works are characterised by the unusual techniques that she uses, bearing a highly personal signature. Yvonne portrays fashion-conscious women who view the world with a confident eye. These women comply with the dominant ideal of beauty achievable through make-up, fashion and plastic surgery. They therefore look perfect. But appearances can be deceiving. The perfect facades conceal feelings of insecurity, despair and vulnerability. As victims of society's obsession with fashion, beauty and perfection, these women suffer from the compulsion to strive for the partially self-imposed ideal image.

    CHELSEA DAVINE

Her inspiration is the small, often unnoticed details which make up everyday life: Chimney smoke, burnished gold, patterns under peeling paint, broken stairs leading nowhere, the ravages of time etched onto metal, a pathway through an arid landscape…

    Jean-François Rauzier

1952, France Unconventional creator of a postmodern dream world, Jean-François Rauzier wonders about the future of our cultural heritage. Known for his imaginary architectural compilations with many cultural and popular references, he turns urban landscapes into utopias and questions the city of the future and our place in the modern world. The artist offers a reflection on our perception of the world and the main themes that run through the foundations of our society: culture, science, progress, oppression, ecology, utopia, freedom.
In 2002, he created the ‘Hyperphoto’, a concept which enables him to deal with the impossible: combining both infinitely big and infinitely small things in the same surreal image, outside the boundaries of the present.

    Noemi Martin

Noemi Martín's work revels in imaginary spaces in which perspective is the only form of architecture, and in which her unmistakable ochres, greys and yellows bathe every detail, creating a world which, although imaginary, reflects an infinite number of realities and the most intimate of our sentiments, like a mirror.

    FRANÇOISE NIELLY

Nielly’s unmistakeable signature style transmits palpable electric energy, a brute force that launches colour like a projectile missile. Known for creating large-scale vibrant, contrasting, fluorescent portraits, her canvases communicate the artist’s strong character and youthful spontaneity. Bold oils and a palette knife are her preferred tools. This particular series works to showcase the similarities and differences between humans, focusing on collective emotions across an array of ages, ethnicities and gender.

    HIROOMI ITO

Hiroomi Ito is a Japanese artist based in Barcelona.
Due to his compositions, technique and characteristics, when observing Hiroomi Ito’s work, the first impression is of being in front of a Nihonga creation (日本画) or a Japanese classical painting. However, a more in-depth study of the pictorial discourse, together with the artist’s life trajectory on Catalan soil, shows us that there really is a latent identity debate, with much analysis of his country of origin. On a technical and compositional level with Hiroomi Ito’s work, it is worth noting (except for water and glass frames) 100% of the materials used are imported from Japan, with the use of unusual elements in the production of his pieces, such as wheat starch or Japanese tea, being particularly relevant. Using these components is not merely part of the technique or aesthetic, since they also intrinsically carry deep symbolic meaning, which becomes clear upon careful exploration of the artist’s pieces. Finally, using the Japanese culinary sphere as the main thematic axis, the artist proposes a reflection on current Japanese values based on one of the symbols that Japan uses to present itself to the West, its food.

    JEAN-LUC MANIOULOX

Born in the South of France and he worked as an illustrator and advertiser before becoming a visual artist. He now lives and works in Paris.Jean-Luc Maniouloux is a master in the art of bringing together worlds that should never have met. Time seems suspended in translucent cases bathed in light, a photographic snapshot in 3D. A freeze on an image featuring insects facing a cold and manufactured universe; hornets breaking their way through a scene, adventurous ants but also a magical flight of butterflies! A true message of rebirth, the work of Jean-Luc plunges us into a metaphorical, astonishing and poetic adventure.

    Françoise Nielly Originals

    01 Jan 2021 – 01 Jan 2022

FRANÇOISE NIELLY France Françoise Nielly has explored the different facets of image all her life, through painting, photography, roughs, illustrations and virtual computer generated animated graphics. It is clear now that painting is her direction and her passion. She gets her sense of space and construction from her father, who was an architect. Growing up in the South of France where she lived between Cannes and Saint-Tropez, she was never far from the light, the colour sense and the atmosphere that permeates the South of France. This is coupled with her studies at the Beaux Arts and Decorative Arts, and her sense of humour and of celebration. Françoise Nielly’s painting is expressive, exhibiting a brute force, a fascinating vital energy. Oil and knife combine to sculpt her images from a material that is, at the same time, biting and incisive, carnal and sensual. Whether she paints the human body or portraits, the artist takes a risk: her painting is sexual, her colours free, exuberant, surprising, even explosive, the cut of her knife incisive, her colour pallet dazzling.
